 PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, May 29: Panic gripped the Jugsalai area on Friday afternoon after a massive fire broke out at the factory premises of Gangaur Misthan under the jurisdiction of Jugsalai police station.

Thick plumes of smoke billowed into the sky as the blaze rapidly intensified, triggering concern among local residents and shopkeepers in the busy commercial locality.

Smoke Spotted Before Flames Spread

According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first seen emerging from the factory during the afternoon. Initially believed to be a minor technical issue, the situation escalated within minutes as flames engulfed a major portion of the unit.

Local residents rushed to the spot, while nearby traders began taking precautionary measures amid fears that the fire could spread to adjoining establishments.

Fire Brigade Launches Rescue Operation

On receiving information, multiple fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and launched an extensive firefighting operation.

Firefighters continuously sprayed water to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. Efforts to completely douse the fire were still underway at the time of reporting.

Preliminary estimates suggest that property worth several lakh rupees may have been damaged in the incident. However, the exact extent of the loss will be known only after the fire is fully extinguished and an assessment is carried out.

Cause Yet to Be Ascertained

The exact cause of the fire remains unclear. While a short circuit or technical malfunction is suspected, officials said the reason can only be confirmed after a detailed investigation.

Police and administrative officials are monitoring the situation, and a probe has been initiated to determine the cause of the incident.
