Raipur, August 20: Chhattisgarh’s council of ministers under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reached a record 14 members on Wednesday with the induction of three MLAs, the highest since the state’s formation in 2000.

Traditionally, the cabinet in the 90-member assembly has consisted of 13, including the chief minister.

The expansion took place at Raj Bhavan, where Governor Ramen Deka administered the oath of office and secrecy to BJP legislators Rajesh Agrawal, Guru Khushwant Saheb, and Gajendra Yadav, all of whom are first-time MLAs.

With their induction, the cabinet—previously comprising 11 members including the CM—has reached its maximum strength. The portfolios of the new ministers are yet to be announced.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by CM Sai, Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, state ministers, and other senior leaders.
