Delhi CM Kejriwal’s judicial custody extended till Aug 20 in liquor scam case

New Delhi, August 8: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court extended Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody on Thursday in connection with a CBI case involving the Delhi excise policy/ liquor scam.

Kejriwal appeared in court via video conferencing from Tihar Jail.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja extended Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody until August 20 on. The extension was granted following an application filed by the CBI.

CBI arrested Kejriwal on June 26

The CBI filed a charge sheet against Arvind Kejriwal on July 29 which is nearly one month after his arrest on June 26.

Previously, Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in March in connection with the money laundering case linked to the excise policy. The court has already acknowledged the supplementary charge sheet filed against him.

Delhi HC rejected Kejriwal’s plea against CBI arrest on Aug 5

On August 5, the Delhi High Court rejected Kejriwal’s petition challenging the CBI arrest in the liquor policy scam case.

Additionally, the Delhi High Court disposed of Arvind Kejriwal’s bail petition in the CBI case, stating that he could seek relief from the trial court.
