On January 3, 1991, SP Randhir Verma displayed unparalleled bravery during an armed encounter with four Punjab-based terrorists. The terrorists, armed with AK-47 rifles, were robbing the Bank of Baroda near Court More. Upon receiving the information, Verma, using his bodyguard’s service revolver, rushed to the scene.

In the intense exchange of gunfire, SP Verma killed all four attackers despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. A bank customer, Shymal Chakraborty, also lost his life in the crossfire.
