Deoghar, July 29: Six Kawariyas lost their lives, and several others sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Jamunia Chowk under Mohanpur block, about 15 km from Deoghar district headquarters, early Tuesday morning.

According to district administration officials, the accident occurred around 5:30 am.

The bus, carrying Kawariyas, was en route to Basukinath in Dumka after offering water at Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar, when it collided with an LPG cylinder-laden truck coming from the opposite direction.

Six Kawariyas died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to Deoghar Sadar Hospital by ambulance.

Deoghar SDM Ravi Kumar reached the accident site immediately upon receiving information, arranged ambulances, and later visited the hospital to ensure the victims received the best possible treatment.

Survivors from the bus said most of the pilgrims were from the Gaya and Motihari districts of Bihar.
