Dhanbad, March 19: The excise police on Tuesday recovered 96 cartons of fake brands of foreign liquor stored in a city-based house on Joraphatak Road under Dhansar police station.
District Assistant Excise Commissioner Sanjay Mehta said that besides fake liquor, in the raid caps, stickers of different foreign liquor companies were also recovered in large quantities in the house.
The illegal liquor was stored in a rented house. The house belonged to Manoj Sahu and the business was operated by Appu Singh. Both of them fled when excise police raided the house in the afternoon.

“Raid was conducted on the directive of deputy commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra. The market cost of seized liquor is estimated at over Rs. 4.50 lakh. The stamp of Arunachal Pradesh was found on each bottle of sized liquor,” said the Assistant Commissioner.
He said a campaign had been launched in the wake of the Holi festival and Lok Sabha elections, and it would be continued.
