Dhanbad, Oct 26: Samiran Dutta, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), emphasised the importance of aligning technical skills with industry demands during a guest lecture at BIT Sindri. He urged students to adapt their skill sets to meet evolving industry requirements.
While addressing the audience, CMD Dutta stated, “It is high time for techies to skill themselves as per the industry’s requirement.” He underscored the industry’s significant role in the nation’s development and the urgency for tech professionals to acquire skills relevant to current market needs.
Insights on industrial policies and career opportunities
During the lecture, Dutta shared insights about various industrial policies, advanced technologies, and career opportunities available in the industry. He discussed how to leverage advanced technology for the nation’s progress and encouraged students to remain informed about industry trends.
In response to students’ questions, the CMD provided guidance on pursuing careers across different fields. He also stressed the importance of health, stating, “Health is wealth. If it is well, all will be well.”

Chitranjan Kumar, a senior member of the BIT Sindri Alumni Association, noted that Dutta’s lecture would be a significant benefit for students, describing it as a “silver lining” that would enhance their understanding of industry dynamics and career paths.
BIT Sindri Director Dr. Pankaj Rai remarked that the guest lecture aimed to guide students on industrial planning and development. He stated, “Students got proper guidance for future paths from this lecture of the BCCL CMD. He (Samiran Dutta) encouraged students to do hard and continuous labour to achieve their goals.”
Celebrating BIT Sindri’s Platinum Jubilee
The guest lecture was organised as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of BIT Sindri, which is set to take place next month.
Sweta Kumari, the secretary of the BIT Sindri Alumni Association, served as the chief organiser of the event. Other notable attendees included SB Kumar, Taneswer Paswan, GK Prasad, Meena Kumari, Binod Tulsian, Bamp Singh, BK Singh, DK Tanti, and Rajkumar.
