BJP functionaries taking out rally at Jagannathpur in West Singhbhum

Jamshedpur, Aug 14: BJP functionaries of Jagannathpur Block in West Singhbhum district are to stage a dharna in front of the Jagannathpur block office in protest against the Hemant Soren-led government’s ongoing votes-garnering tactics.

Dharna on August 17

The proposed dharna is scheduled to be staged on August 17 when the BJP activists will try to awaken the region’s people about the tall talk regarding providing employment to youths that Hemant Soren had made in 2019 when he came to power.

The saffron brigade will also highlight how the chief minister Hemant Soren started various lucrative public welfare schemes, including Maya Yojna to befool the docile and innocent people as the assembly election is around the corner.

An announcement about the proposed dharna was made by the BJP leader and former chief minister Madhu Koda at a rally organised by the party’s Jagannathpur Block committee on Tuesday.

The rally was attended by BJP workers from Kiriburu, Hatgamharia and Jagannathpur and also by a large number of unemployed youths and women.

Hemant’s promise to provide 5 lakh jobs failed: Madhu Koda

Addressing the rally, Madhu Koda said during the 2019 assembly elections, Hemant Soren had declared that he would provide five lakhs government jobs to unemployed youths within the next two years and would provide unemployment allowance to the rest of the youths.

“Believing in Hemant Soren’s promise, lakhs of youths got their names registered with the Employment Exchanges having voted him to power. From the Jagannathpur block area itself, 16,000 unemployed youths had their names registered with the Employment Exchange. But none of the youths got any jobs as such so far. Now you can imagine well what Hemant Soren is up to by launching the Maya Yojna on a war-footing just before the assembly election again,” quipped the former chief minister while addressing the rally.

Allowance under Maya Yojna will not last long: Madhu Koda

Madhu Koda pointed out the population of Jharkhand is about four crores, about half of which is that of women – about two crores.

“Even if 1.5 crores women are to be given monthly allowance at the rate of Rs 1000 per month, the total amount per month will stand somewhere around Rs 13 billion. Now the question arises where will the chief minister get such a big amount from for running the scheme successfully, ” the BJP leader questioned.

He stated that even if the state government starts paying the allowance under the Maya Yojna now, leading the women to get Rs 1000 a month, it will not last long.

“As soon as Hemant Soren is voted to power again, the state government will definitely stop payment of the allowance on some alibi or the other. Otherwise, the JMM-led Hemant Soren government would not have failed to keep its promise to provide five lakh jobs and unemployment allowance to the youths,” Madhu Koda claimed.

The BJP leader deplored that the state is running in the back gear as lakhs of women aspiring for the chance of submitting the application for the Maya Yojna are queuing up in the long line having abandoned the crucial sowing activities during the monsoon.
