PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, June 25: A major theft has been reported from the residence of Shah Faisal, a Junior Engineer with Tata Steel, located in Jawaharnagar (Road No. 14) under the Mango police station area.

Burglars allegedly made away with jewellery estimated to be worth Rs 20 lakh.

The incident came to light when Faisal’s wife went to retrieve jewellery from a cupboard on the first floor before attending a wedding in Golmuri last night.

To her shock, the jewellery bag was missing from the locker. Although the locker was shut, the key had been left on a nearby table, leading to suspicion that the thief may have used it to open the locker without any signs of forced entry.

Following the discovery, the family informed the Mango police, who reached the spot and started an investigation.

Police are currently scanning CCTV footage and have not ruled out the possibility of an insider being involved, as there were no signs of a break-in.

Preliminary findings suggest the act could have been committed by someone familiar with the house layout and the family’s routine.

Police are examining all possible leads.
