SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, April 30: In a decisive move, Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Madhvi Mishra has directed Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), to ensure that landowners are compensated before any mining activity is initiated on their land.

While chairing a meeting of the Mining Task Force, the DC emphasized that mining without prior compensation often leads to local law and order issues. “BCCL is directed to begin mining operations only after confirming that compensation has been paid to the concerned landowners,” said Mishra.

Action Against Illegal Mining Discussed

During the meeting, the DC also reviewed the actions taken by the Task Force to combat illegal mining. Discussions included concerns over illegal coal extraction, storage of minerals, and misuse of GST and e-bills in the transportation of minerals.

Taking serious note of ongoing illegal mining activities, Mishra instructed officials from concerned departments to strengthen inter-departmental coordination. She further directed that regular meetings of the coordination committee be held to achieve effective control over illegal mining operations.

Enforcement Measures Highlighted by BCCL

BCCL officials updated the meeting about their enforcement efforts, including recent raids against illegal mining, the use of bulldozers to dismantle unauthorized mining setups, and the deployment of drones for surveillance in mining areas and coal weighing stations.
