Dhanbad, March 25: The Dhanbad District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has rescued four orphaned children, including two visually impaired siblings, and has taken steps to ensure their inclusion in government welfare schemes.

Blind Child Found Roaming, Rescue Operation Initiated

Sub-Judge cum DLSA Secretary Roshan Kumar stated that Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) Raju Kumar spotted a four-year-old blind child, Mannu, wandering in the Katras area, about 20 km from the district headquarters on Tuesday. Upon receiving the information, the DLSA Secretary promptly formed a task force and directed the child’s immediate rescue.

When the team arrived in Katras, they discovered that Mannu’s younger brother was also blind. Both children had been living on the streets after the death of their father, struggling to survive without any support.

Two More Disabled Orphans Rescued

During the rescue mission, the team also found two other orphaned children with disabilities who had been unable to attend school due to extreme poverty. Realizing their vulnerable condition, the DLSA decided to extend its support to them as well.

Principal District and Sessions Judge cum DLSA Chairman Virendra Kumar Tiwari, upon being informed of the rescue, directed officials to include all four children under Jharkhand Legal Services Authority’s (JHALSA) welfare programs.

Rehabilitation and Welfare Initiatives Underway

DLSA Secretary Roshan Kumar confirmed that both blind children will be sent to the Giridih Blind Child Development School for specialized education and care. Additionally, the necessary paperwork is being processed to provide scholarships for the other two orphaned children.

Efforts have also begun to enroll all four children in school. As an immediate relief measure, the Sub-Judge personally provided them with clothing and toys at the rescue site.
