Daltonganj, April 11: Four girls in the age group of 10 to 22 drowned in a water body at Haraiyya in Garhwa district today.

Inspector of police Brij Kumar has confirmed the death by drowning of girls.

Two of the girls hail from Palamu district while the remaining two are of Garhwa district.

The four came from different families but were relatives of each other.

The four drowned have been identified as Roma (20), Misti (14), Ankita (22) and Ladu (10).

Sources said the three drowned one by one to save the first one who drowned. There is no foul play except tragic negligence and puerile excitement of adventure resulting in this loss of four lives.

Dr Amit Kumar, Medical Officer in the Sadar Hospital Garhwa conducted the post-mortem of all the four drowned girls, said the district epidemiologist Dr Satish Mishra.
