Jamshedpur, Nov 28: The mutilated body of a 24-year-old girl was found lying near Radhaswami Ashram along the Kharkai river under the Seraikela thana area early on Thursday morning.
From the crime scene, it is learned that the girl might have been abducted to this isolated place by the assailants and bludgeoned to death on a cemented slab near the Ashram in the night.
The slab was splashed with blood and at a little distance away were lying a number of empty liquor bottles, suggesting that there was more than one person behind the brutal murder of the girl.
The body was discovered by some locals who spread the information across the area, finally reaching the police soon.

Police in process of identifying body
A police team subsequently reached the spot and tried to get the body identified by letting it lie there for hours together. When no one could identify the body, the police shifted it to the Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Seraikela SDPO Samir Kumar Sebaiya confirmed it to be a case of murder but could not give any probable motive behind it.
“The murder victim appeared to have come to attend a marriage ceremony or any family function. Apparently, she was a tribal girl. Whether she had been subjected to rape or not cannot be stated as her apparel was intact, ” said the SDPO while talking to The Jharkhand Story.
Sebaiya pointed out there was no chance of getting a lead into the murder as neither was there any eyewitness nor any CCTV footage.
“Making the victim’s identity is our first priority. We have, therefore, circulated photographs of her across the Kolhan. Once we succeed in identifying body, we will be able to unravel the assailants also soon,” said Sebaiya.
