Dhanbad, March 6: The Inspector General (IG) of Police for the Bokaro Zone, Michael Raj S, has made police verification mandatory for all apartment residents and staff in Dhanbad.
During a meeting with representatives of the Residential Society Association (RSA) at the Collectorate, he directed that police verification be conducted for all apartment guards, domestic helpers, renters, and drivers on a priority basis.
Security Measures for Apartments
In addition to police verification, IG Michael Raj S emphasized the importance of enhancing security measures in all apartments. He made it mandatory for apartments to install CCTV cameras, maintain visitor registers, and keep detailed records of visitors entering and exiting the premises.

He asked that before renting out flats, landlords should gather complete information on the tenant’s history, and if any suspicious activity is noticed, the tenant should be placed under surveillance and the concerned police station should be informed.

Emergency Assistance and Digital Safety
IG Michael Raj S also alerted the RSA representatives about the risks of digital arrests and urged them to prominently display police helpline numbers, 112 and 1930, in all apartments. He advised the residents to register online complaints in case of missing mobile phones or fraudulent calls.
During the meeting, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HP Janardhanan further stressed the need for all commercial organizations, shops, buildings, societies, and warehouses to install CCTV cameras, have fire-fighting systems in place, and display the emergency helpline numbers. He warned that legal action would be taken against establishments failing to comply with these directives.
Enhanced Security Around Schools and Colleges
SSP HP Janardhanan also instructed concerned police stations to ensure adequate security arrangements near girls’ colleges and schools, and to prevent traffic jams in those areas.
In addition to IG Bokaro Zone, the meeting was attended by SSP HP Janardhanan, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kapil Choudhary, DSPs DN Banka, Naushad Alam, and Shankar Kamti, along with the officer in charge of Dhanbad Sadar Police Station, Ram Narayan Thakur, and the officer in charge of Saraidhela Police Station, Nutan Modi.
