Jamshedpur, Sept 13: As part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, Kolkata, organized a special awareness drive in Jamshedpur on Saturday, celebrating the courage of survivors and underscoring the importance of early detection.

Nearly 15 survivors shared their inspiring journeys, offering hope and motivation to patients battling the disease.

Dr. Abhay Kumar, HOD – Urology, Surgical Oncology & Robotic Surgery at Manipal Hospital, highlighted the rise of prostate cancer, with early-onset cases increasing by nearly 5% annually over the past three decades.

He stressed that delays in diagnosis and mismanagement often complicate outcomes.

“Prostate cancer is often curable when detected early. Robotic-assisted surgery not only removes cancer effectively but also preserves quality of life, addressing concerns like incontinence. At Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, we have successfully treated patients from across the region, including Jamshedpur,” Dr. Kumar said.

Survivor testimonials added a personal dimension to the session:

Prof. Pronobesh Roy (72) credited robotic surgery for his speedy recovery and renewed energy.

K.D.P. Singh (71) shared his journey of overcoming advanced-stage cancer through surgery.

Tapas Kumar Mahato (57) expressed gratitude for the expert care that restored his health and confidence.
