Dhanbad, Oct 8: BJP Sadar MLA Raj Sinha on Wednesday dismissed rumours that the Bartand bus stand would be relocated to Katras, 15 km away, saying such a move will not be allowed under any circumstances.

Speaking to media at his MLA office, Sinha stated that he had spoken with Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ravi Raj Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan, both of whom confirmed that there is no proposal to shift the bus stand from the city.

For the past month, the Bus Owners Association and leaders of various political parties have been protesting against the alleged plan, creating confusion among the public.

Inter-State Bus Terminal Proposal Only

Raj Sinha clarified that the discussions with DMC Commissioner Ravi Raj Sharma pertain only to creating a separate inter-state bus terminal. The inter-district bus operations will continue at Bartand, ensuring the city’s transport hub remains functional.

“It is completely a rumour being spread by some leaders to defame me and the BJP,” Sinha said.

DC to Inspect Bartand Bus Stand

The MLA also met DC Aditya Ranjan, highlighting that the Bartand bus stand has more than 21–22 acres of land, questioning the need to shift the inter-state bus terminal elsewhere.

The DC agreed to inspect the land on October 11, and if sufficient space is confirmed, the inter-state terminal will not be moved from Bartand.

Raj Sinha emphasized that any decision regarding the bus stand will only be taken with public consent. Even if a new inter-state terminal is established elsewhere, the Jharkhand inter-district bus stand will remain at Bartand in the city.

The three-time MLA also highlighted his contributions to Dhanbad over the past 11 years, including the establishment of BBMKU University, the revival of District Sadar Hospital after 43 years, and the development of a stadium, asking citizens to assess the changes during his tenure.
