Daltonganj, Jan 15: Medical students in the MMCH Daltonganj are up in arms against their principal Dr Prof P N Mahto.
Sources said the medicos are pretty sore with the strict measures that the principal is trying to put in place.
Two strict measures of Principal
The principal has directed the medicos to wear helmets when riding bikes. This safety measure is despised by the medicos knowing all the dangers of riding bikes without the helmets.

The second strict measure is spending odd times of boys and girls together like at night or in some dark corner on the campus. The medicos want free time. The principal asks them to have a decency of togetherness.
Sources said the girl medicos are more hostile to the disciplinary measures and they want no curb on their liberty.
Principal Mahto told the Jharkhand Story correspondent, “Resentment brews in the students. They dislike my measures. Wearing helmets will save them. I want them to be safe and happy. The students just show their whims and fancies.”
“There is no curb on anyone’s freedom. Boys and girls must behave decently. There is no room for any indecency,” added the Principal.

Faculty support for students
Sources in the medical college hinted at tacit support of a few faculties to students in raising banner of resentment towards the Principal.
“No medical student can afford to irk or incur the displeasure of the Principal, unless assured of no harm coming to them. And this assurance is from the side of a few faculties there in the MMCH Daltonganj”, said sources in the MMCH.
Sources said the Principal is pressing students to be in the classrooms and labs while faculties are instructed to make biometric attendances and engage classes.
It’s getting difficult for both the students and faculties to bunk classes or duties. Naturally they are crying loud against the principal now said sources.
This correspondent spoke to some boys and girls of this medical who agreed that nobody obliges anyone if one wears a helmet.
Again there was no complaint against the quality of food either. Sources said some boys and girls order mess people to serve them in their rooms. This is against the norms as boys and girls are expected to take their meals at the designated dining hall etc.
