Dhanbad, August 5: The national workshop on the faculty development programme (FDP) began at BIT Sindri on Monday.
Recent trends in sustainable power generation
The theme of the programme is ‘Recent Trends in Sustainable Power Generation: Pathways, Energy Storage, and Application”, sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy.
Dr Pankaj Rai, director of BIT Sindri, inaugurated the programme. He said that this FDP is a small initiative by BIT Sindri to attain its mission of being committed to excellence in technical education and research for sustainable development.
Prof. Ghansyam, chairman of the Career Development Centre (CDC) of BIT Sindri, highlighted the key aspects of the programme.

Scope of renewable energy sources
Prof. Manabendra Pathak of IIT Patna and Prof. S. Murugan of NIT Rourkela were the chief speakers on the first day. They highlighted the scope of renewable energy sources like solar and Biofuel energy that contribute to sustainable development in India.
The programme has been organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. HoD Prof. Vijay Pandey said that the FDP aims to educate faculty members, research scholars and Industry persons about renewable energy’s role in sustainable development in Jharkhand and India.
Around 50 participants from across India, are participating in it which will run till August 10.

Jha, assistant professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur M. Kumar, Sr. manager, Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Burnpur, Asansol, and Dr Om Prakash, assistant professor, BIT Sindri attended it.

Prof. Manoj Kumar, the convener of the FDP highlighted the importance of such a programme. It was coordinated by Prof. Yogesh Kr. Prajapati and Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Department of Mechanical Engineering of BIT Sindri.
Prof. Kuldip Kumar and Prof. Om Prakash are the organizing secretaries. Prof. Dinesh Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
