Dhanbad, March 14: 13th  Padamabai Rungta Memorial prize money open chess for different age groups will be played at Sitaram Rungta Recreation Hall  Town Club Chaibasa from  March 29 to 31.

Giving this information, West Singhbhum District Chess Association general secretary and internationally rated player Basant Khandelwal said that four top players of the tournament will be selected to represent  the district in  the Jharkhand State Chess Championship 2024.

“The tournament is being organized under the aegis of SR Rungta Group. Winners will receive a total of Rs 21,000 cash prize. In addition, 22 trophies will be given to successful participants of different age groups,” said Khandelwal.

Tournament winner

The tournament winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 6,000 and a glittering trophy, a mark of supremacy in district chess.

Over 120 players, including international-rated men and women, are likely to participate. The tournament will be played in seven rounds under the supervision of the international arbiter of Jharkhand.

Hursh Sharma and Purushottam Saraf have been made coordinators of the tournament.
