Ramgarh, Aug. 22: Due to rains for the past few days, the dam on the Nalkari River in Patratu reached the danger mark. After which, to normalize the water level, the management has opened one of the 8 gates of the Patratu Dam.

This gate was opened on Thursday morning. The administration has alerted the people.
The water level of Patratu Dam reached above 1328 RL. After reaching 1328 RL, the third gate out of the eight of Patratu Dam was opened 3 inches. The gate was opened at 6:50 am on Thursday. Due to the opening of the gate of PTPS Dam, the flow of water in the Nalkari River increased and the Nalkari River met the Damodar River, due to which an increase in the water level of the Damodar River also be seen till Rajrappa.

People are being made aware and announcements are being made to not go themselves or with animals to the banks of the Nalkari and Damodar rivers.
Naveen Kumar, Estate Officer, Rest Asset, PTPS Patratu, said that the catchment area of the dam was filled with water due to rain. Also, due to the continuous flow of water from its main water source Nalkari and Ghaghra rivers, the water level of Patratu Dam is increasing gradually.
At present, the water level of the dam has crossed 1328 RL. Given this, out of the eight gates of Patratu Dam, gate number three is opened 3 inches to drain out the water. An alert has been issued.
