SUBHASH MISHRA
Ranchi, Oct 10: The Junior Doctors Association (JDA) of RIMS Ranchi, representing doctors and MBBS students, has strongly opposed the management’s plan to demolish the campus stadium. The association has warned it will take all necessary steps to protect the facility.

In a statement, the JDA expressed concern over the proposed demolition to make way for a new OPD complex. “We had earlier written to the RIMS management regarding this plan and reiterate today that JDA will not accept any move that paralyzes sports and physical activities of doctors and MBBS students,” the statement said.

The press note was jointly signed by JDA President Dr. Ankit Kumar, Executive President Dr. Abhishek Laguri, Secretary Dr. O.M. Prakash, and Vice-Presidents Dr. Abhishe Hansdak and Dr. Amit Kumar.

Stadium: More Than Just Sports
According to the JDA, the RIMS stadium is not merely a venue for sports but also a hub for competitions, cultural programs, and community events for doctors and students. “Sports activities are vital for both physical and mental health, and demolition of the stadium will not be allowed,” the statement emphasized.

The association also pointed out that if the stadium is demolished, there will be no alternative space for students and doctors to engage in physical activities. They urged the management to reconsider the plan in the interest of the campus community.
FAIMA Backs JDA
The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has expressed support for the JDA’s stance, condemning the demolition plan.
Dr. Jaideep Kumar Choudhary, FAIMA National Co-Chairman, stated, “This stadium is essential for the mental health and physical wellbeing of MBBS, BDS, nursing, and paramedical students at RIMS Ranchi. Demolition will be strongly opposed.”
