Jamshedpur, March 12: Under the aegis of the city’s esteemed social and cultural organization, The Bengal Club, and Jamshedpur Music Circle, an organization dedicated to promoting classical music, a mesmerizing evening of Ghazals, titled “Sham-e-Ghazal,” was held at the Bengal Club auditorium in Sakchi.

The program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, marking the auspicious beginning of the musical gathering. The chief guest, Keshav Ranjan of Tata Steel Foundation, along with the guest of honor, Kishan Sonthalia, Vice President of Jamshedpur Music Circle, and distinguished guests Vibha Mishra, Poorvi Ghosh, Subhash Bose, and Soumya Sen of Bengal Club, inaugurated the event.

The evening unfolded with a captivating Ghazal performance by the city’s celebrated singer,  Manmohan Singh. His soulful rendition of “Mila Na Dil Ka Qaddan Koi Zamane Mein…” won thunderous applause from the audience.

The musical charm continued as renowned singer Pankaj Jha enthralled the gathering with his melodious voice, adding vibrancy to the evening.  Prema Dey then took the stage, delivering one mesmerizing Ghazal after another, earning accolades from the attendees.

A special highlight of the event was the performance by the versatile singer Dr. Sanatan Deep, who left the audience spellbound with his soulful singing. The grand finale featured the celebrated Ghazal artist, Sujan Chatterjee, whose arrival was met with enthusiastic applause. She enchanted the audience with her timeless Ghazals, especially the rendition of “Kahan Aakar Rukhne The Raste,” which resonated deeply with the audience.

The musical evening was further enriched by the impeccable accompaniment of talented instrumentalists, including Amitabh Sen, Swaroop Moitra, Ritoshree Ganguly (Tabla), Mukul Roy (Synthesizer), Shantanu Mukherjee (Guitar), and Raju Raj (Octopad). The gathering was skillfully anchored by Shahid Anwar, whose poetic interludes added to the charm of the event.

The program witnessed the presence of several notable personalities, including Soumya Sen, Parth Sarathi Sen, Anshuman Chaudhary, Tara Shankar Bhattacharya, Indranil Ghoshal, Sougata Chakraborty of Bengal Club, Sujit Rai of JMC, Virendra Upadhyay, Anil Singh, Pawan Choubey,  Kartikeya Mishra, and Har Prasad Mukherjee.
