Jamshedpur, March 17: In a major breakthrough the police recovered four pistols by arresting two notorious criminals having raided separate places in the steel city late on Sunday night.
Acting on a tip-off, the police first arrested Bhanu Majhi having raided a place at Dukhi Maidaan in Ulyan under the Kadma thana area. Later after the interrogation of Majhi, the police arrested his close associate Rakesh Mondal alias Pakoudi by raiding a place in Sakchi.
From the arrested persons, the police recovered two pistols from the possession of each of them.
Revealing about the breakthrough, Senior SP Kishore Kaushal said that Bhanu Majhi used to be a terror for this region for a considerable period, but after his arrest and subsequent stay in jail for a long time, he seemed to have resumed his criminal activity by forming a new gang.

“Immediately after we got to know about a criminal hatching plan to commit a grievous crime at Ulyan, we had set up team and raided the place where he was sitting alone. During the arrest, the team recovered two pistols, including a sophisticated one from his possession. It after his interrogation only that Majhi divulged about Rakesh Mondal whom the team arrested from Sakchi area, ” said the Senior SP while briefing the newsmen on Monday.
The senior police officer pointed out that Rakesh Mondal is an arms supplier and used to provide firearms to Majhi.
Kishore Kaushal said they had imposed CCA against Majhi while he was lodged in the jail. He stated that after he came out of jail on bail, the district police had started preparing to impose CCA once again against Majhi, but eventually, he was arrested.
The Senior SP said that it was a fortunate thing to happen that the police succeeded in arresting a hardened criminal, wanted in more than a dozen cases, before he could commit any crime.
Both Bhanu Majhi and Rakesh Mondal were forwarded to judicial custody after the duo were produced before a judicial magistrate in the evening.
