Ranchi, Oct 13: Two hardcore Naxals were gunned down in a joint search operation carried out by CoBRA 209 (CRPF) and Bokaro District Police in the Birhor Dera forest along the Bokaro–Hazaribagh border. Security forces also recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during the operation.

Police officials said the action followed specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of Naxals in the area. During the encounter, two Naxals were killed, while several others—including Parvez Da, Chanchal Da, Vishan Da, Raju, and Bhola Koda—managed to escape.

Before fleeing, Phulchand Manjhi alias Raju and Bhola Koda alias Rohit Koda alias Vikash Da hid their SLR rifles and ammunition under the soil near a bamboo grove close to Murpa village.

Surrender of Bhola Koda

After the encounter, Bhola Koda travelled to his home in Abhaypur, Munger district, via Giridih by train. However, facing mounting police pressure, he surrendered in Munger. Hazaribagh police took him on remand for interrogation.

During questioning, Bhola Koda confessed to hiding the weapons with Raju in the Murpa forest. Acting on this information, the police launched another search operation under an OPS PLAN on the instructions of the Police Headquarters.

Arms and Ammunition Seized

The joint search team recovered two SLR rifles, one SLR LMG empty magazine, five SLR empty magazines, 233 SLR bullets, two camouflage magazine pouches, three full-throughs, and other daily-use items. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Inspector General of Police, Coal Region, Bokaro.

Bhola Koda (21), also known as Rohit Koda or Vikash Da, has multiple cases registered against him in six different police stations under various sections of the IPC.
