Jamshedpur, Oct 2: Zoos across India are known to organise and conduct various activities to increase awareness regarding the necessity for nature conservation and the preservation of wild floral and faunal diversity of the country.
In order to spread awareness among the general public towards the conservation of wild animals and nature, and to comply with the targets of the life initiative by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, Tata Steel Zoological Park is observing Wildlife Week Celebration from today.
This year’s theme is “Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation: Our Land, Our Future”.

The week-long celebrations began today and will continue till Sunday, October 6. The celebrations would involve students of all age groups in various activities like on-the-spot essay writing competition (both in Hindi and English), debate, fancy dress parade, on-the-spot painting competition etc.
“We expect participation of around 1000-2000 school students in various events and programmes, ” said a zoo official.
The formal inauguration took place today. Saba Alam Ansari, IFS, DFO – Jamshedpur, graced the event as chief guest.
On October 6, the weeklong program will conclude with an on-the-spot painting competition for the primary category (Nursery – Std. I) and Junior Category (Std. II – Std. V).
The chief guest for the closing ceremony will be Ananya Mittal, deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum.
