Jamshedpur, Jan 2: In a broad-day-light incident, a youth was shot dead near Carmel Junior College under the Sonari thana area, triggering sensation across the locality.
The murder victim was identified as Suraj Pramanik, a resident of Parsudih.
According to sources, the victim was seated inside his autorickshaw in a field behind the Carmel Junior College, apparently waiting for someone at about 11.30 am when a couple of youths arrived there and started firing targeting him.

In the spur of the moment, the victim somehow escaped unhurt and started running for safety. But the assailants chased him and shot him dead at a little distance away before fleeing the spot.

It is learned that Suraj Pramanik used to stay at Sonari about a decade ago but he had to leave the area after developing enmity with some local goons.
Sources revealed that Suraj Pramanik had started staying at Parsudih area in the eastern fringe of the steel city, but he had started visiting Sonari since the past few days again.
It is suspected that Suraj Pramanik’s murder might have been committed in a sequel to the old enmity.
DSP (Headquarters-II) Niranjan Tiwari who has arrived at the crime scene said they cannot say much about the murder, adding that the investigation is on.
