New Delhi, May 7: The Indian Army carried out an airstrike on the night of May 6–7, targeting nine terrorist hideouts located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. The operation was named “Sindoor” by the Army. The Army shared details about Operation Sindoor during a press conference.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh informed that the Indian Army struck 21 terrorist hideouts across nine locations within just 25 minutes. The airstrike on Pakistan began at 1:05 AM and continued until 1:30 AM. Under Operation Sindoor, the Army destroyed terrorist bases at nine different sites.

The Indian Army clarified that no harm was caused to Pakistani civilians during the operation. Only terrorist hideouts were precisely targeted.
The first strike was carried out on the Sawai Nala camp in Sialkot, considered a recruitment and training center of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Subsequently, the Army targeted other camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

During the press briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi shared footage showing the destruction of several terror camps, including those in Muridke—where 2008 Mumbai attack conspirators David Headley and Ajmal Kasab were trained.

She stated that, apart from Muridke, the Indian Army targeted multiple locations in the operation, including the Sarjal camp in Sialkot, Markaz Ahle Hadith in Barnala, Markaz Abbas in Kotli, and the Mehmoona Joya camp in Sialkot.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that the attack was a conspiracy aimed at derailing the return to normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. He also noted with concern that Pakistan had exerted pressure to remove the mention of TRF (The Resistance Front) from the UN Security Council’s press statement dated April 25 — a matter of serious concern.
The Foreign Secretary revealed that investigations into the Pahalgam attack have clearly established deep links between the terrorists and Pakistan. Intelligence agencies in India have also gathered indications that Pakistan-based terror networks are planning further attacks on Indian soil.
He emphasized that such threats could not be ignored, which is why India exercised its right this morning to respond to, prevent, and counter cross-border attacks.
