Kolkata, August 24: The CBI is reported to have started polygraph tests on seven people, including the main accused Sanjay Roy and former principal Sandip Ghosh, on Saturday in connection with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital. Officials said that the polygraph test of the main accused Sanjay Roy is being conducted in the jail where he is lodged.

Former principal Sandeep Ghosh, along with four doctors who were on duty the night of the incident and one civilian volunteer, is undergoing a polygraph test at the agency’s office.

CBI to verify statements of accused via polygraph test
Officials have stated that a team of polygraph experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi has arrived in Kolkata. The CBI aims to verify the statements of the accused through the polygraph test.
According to the CBI, the medical reports (such as DNA from the victim’s body, vaginal swabs, and post-mortem blood) have failed to clearly link the accused to the incident. The CBI aims to determine whether there was any tampering with the evidence or if the accused were part of a conspiracy.
SIT submits documents of RG Kar financial irregularities to CBI
The former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, has been questioned for the ninth consecutive day. According to reports, the CBI has conducted 100 hours of questioning with Ghosh so far but remains unsatisfied with his responses.
Additionally, the Calcutta High Court has directed the CBI to take over the investigation into financial irregularities at RG Kar Hospital. The SIT has handed over all documents related to the case to the CBI.
