Ranchi, Jan 26: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta called upon the Jharkhand Police to uphold the values, principles, and provisions of the Constitution and to dedicate their efforts to making Jharkhand free from crime and Naxalism. He emphasized that this would contribute to building a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive India.

While unfurling the Tricolour at the State Police Headquarters, DGP Gupta highlighted the achievements of the Jharkhand Police in 2024 despite numerous challenges. He reported that 248 Naxalites were arrested, 24 surrendered, and 9 were neutralized in police encounters during the year. In addition, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) apprehended 154 members of organized criminal gangs and 4 Al Qaeda operatives.

“In 2024, we arrested 1,362 individuals involved in the use and trade of illegal drugs,” Gupta stated. He added that a total of ₹1,82,51,950 (₹1.82 crore) and various illegal substances were seized during anti-drug operations.

The DGP also shared data on cybercrime operations, revealing that 1,869 individuals were arrested for cyber-related offences. A total of ₹8,17,84,714 (₹8.17 crore) and other illegal items were confiscated. Additionally, ₹67,20,20,513 (₹67.2 crore) linked to cybercrime activities was recovered, and ₹3,27,93,077 (₹3.27 crore) was returned to victims.

“To enhance coordination with the public and address their grievances promptly, the ‘Jan Shikhayat Samadhan Program,’ initiated under the direction of the Chief Minister, is being conducted at both the Police Headquarters and district levels across the state. This program has facilitated swift action on public complaints, and we will continue such efforts in the future,” Gupta assured.

The DGP concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Jharkhand Police to maintaining peace and security in the state.
