Inquisitiveness and information both came from the sky. It was for the festival of democracy.

This novel method was launched by Latehar district election officer cum deputy commissioner Utkarsh Gupta and his SVEEP cell team when it pressed in two drones to fly over with a huge poster written November 13 there and for voice communication.

Nobody has been made aware of the calendar date by drone ever before as it was done so in Latehar.

We are using 2 drones: DC

Utkarsh Gupta told the Jharkhand Story correspondent, “We are using 2 drones. One is flying with this poster/banner for voting on November 13. The other one sends a voice for voting from the sky. This drone is fitted with a speaker. Both the drones are doing a wonderful job.”

Asked as to where Gupta got this idea of campaigning from the sky, he said, “I discuss things with my team. It emerges from there.”

SVEEP cell in-charge Anil Kr Minz told this correspondent late last night “We flew a drone at Sarju, Garu and Mahuadnr. It had with it 10 feet long and most visibly read date written November 13.”

“A drone with a poster. No one had seen it before. No one had thought of it. Everyone who could notice a drone flying over his head just looked up and marvelled at our idea of flying drones for maximum polling” added Anil Kr Minz.

The drone has been invariably used to have security surveillance from the sky but this time in Latehar and for the first time in this whole of the Palamu Commissionerate comprising three districts Garhwa, Latehar and Palamu and probably in the state of Jharkhand, services of drone have been taken to create curiosity and awareness both of the participation of people in voting.

Anil Kr Minz further said, “As it was a village haat day in Mahuadnr on Thursday the drone with November 13 poster was an instant look up.”

A similar air show for more and more turn out of voters by drone was held in Manika and Barwadeeh added Anil Kr Minz.

Voice for vote on November 13 coming from the drone in the sky in Latehar is no oracle but a plain and honest effort to increase the voters’ turnout in the 2 assembly constituencies in Latehar district.
