Dhanbad, Dec 13: Jharkhand’s ace all-rounder, Anandita Kishor, has been selected for the India U-19 women’s cricket team for the upcoming Asia Cup Championship 2024. The tournament will begin in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on December 15.
The first match of India in the Asia Cup is scheduled for December 15, where they will face their arch-rivals, Pakistan, said Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) executive committee member Binay Kumar Singh.
Selection based on stellar performance in Champions Trophy
Anandita’s selection followed her outstanding all-round performance in the Champions Trophy held in Jaipur in October 2024. She was among the 24 probables chosen for a camp in Bengaluru under the guidance of VVS Laxman, with her impressive performance drawing the selectors’ attention.

Anandita, daughter of railway engineer Manish Kumar, hails from Dhanbad’s Govindpur block. She was coached by former Ranji Trophy player Chandra Mohan Jha, who expressed confidence in her potential: “She has the potential to get a berth in the senior national team and I hope Anandita would perform much better than Champions Trophy in Asia Cup,” said Jha, a BCCI level-2 coach and Jharkhand under-16 coach.
JSCA executive member Binay Kumar Singh, Dhanbad Cricket Association president Advocate Manoj Kumar, secretary Uttam Biswas, and former zonal player Bala Shankar Jha congratulated Anandita on her selection, wishing her success in the Asia Cup.
