Jharkhand News: Dhanbad CWC rescues missing tribal girl from Gaya

Dhanbad, June 6: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Dhanbad, has successfully rescued a missing tribal girl from Gaya district in Bihar.

The 13-year-old girl had gone missing from the Nirsa block of Dhanbad district. Acting swiftly, the CWC and Child Helpline agencies launched a search operation and eventually traced the girl to the Girls Remand Home in Gaya.

Dhanbad CWC chairman Uttam Mukherjee coordinated with his counterpart in Gaya and requested that the girl be sent back to Dhanbad under official protection for rehabilitation with her family.

On Thursday evening, Gaya CWC handed over the girl to officials from the Child Protection Department and Child Helpline, who brought her back to Dhanbad.

Chairman Uttam Mukherjee spoke with the rescued girl and instructed the concerned officials to produce her parents so she can be reunited with them. For now, the girl is being kept at the Girls Remand Home in Dhanbad.

Three Rescued Child Labourers Sent Home

CWC chairman Uttam Mukherjee also informed that three child labourers, who were rescued last week by the Labour Department from upscale hotels on Dhanbad Station Road, have been safely sent back to their homes.

Two of the children belonged to Jamtara district, while one was from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Officials from both districts had provided the necessary reports to Dhanbad regarding the rescued children.

Rupesh Kumar, a member of the District Child Protection Unit, actively supported the CWC in both the rescue of the missing girl and the rehabilitation of the child labourers.
