Deoghar, Dec 13: The Deoghar unit of Innerwheel organised an awareness workshop today in the IMA hall on cervical cancer.

Addressing the programme, Dr. Pallavi said that till now about 14 strains of this virus have been discovered in the world out of which 16, 18, 31 and 33 play an important role.

Dr. Pallavi said that since this is the only cancer disease caused by a virus, vaccination is also available for its treatment.

She said that the result of vaccination on girls aged 9 to 15 years has been quite positive.

According to Dr. Pallavi, after the developed countries, vaccination is available in our country too and there is a need of the hour. Its use

“The most appropriate age limit for vaccination is from 9 to 15. However, the final age limit can also be 45 years. But vaccination at an early age has its benefits. Because girls of this age do not have sexual exposure,” she said.

According to her, there are no side effects of vaccination. She said that a large population of the country is girls who can fall prey to this disease. In such a situation it is wise to adopt vaccination, she added.

Dr. Swati Priya of Deoghar AIIMS, while addressing the seminar, said that every day such patients come in whom symptoms of cervical cancer are found.

She appealed to the ANM students present in the seminar and said that if they see even a little symptom then they should be advised to get tested.

According to them, mothers of more children and women suffering from prolonged bleeding are more likely to develop cervical cancer. In such a situation, those women should be advised to get tested for cervical cancer.

She said that the disease would not become incurable if the test was done on time.

Dr. Swati admitted that the testing facility related to cervical cancer is not available in government health centres, yet the disease can be caught even with one or two tests.
