Jamshedpur, Dec 23: Dense fog was reported at several places across Jharkhand on Tuesday morning, while temperatures across the state remained largely near normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per the realised weather report issued by the Meteorological Centre at Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, observations based on 8:30 am data showed no rainfall across the state during the past 24 hours.

Temperature Highlights

Chaibasa (Part Time Observatory) recorded the highest maximum temperature at 26.8°C, while Lohardaga (Automated Weather Station) reported the lowest minimum temperature at 5.4°C.

In Ranchi, the maximum temperature stood at 23.7°C, which was 0.4°C above normal, while the minimum temperature was 9.5°C, slightly higher than normal.

Jamshedpur recorded a maximum of 25.5°C and a minimum of 12.4°C, while Daltonganj reported a cooler day with a maximum of 19.0°C, significantly below normal by 6.5°C.

Fog and Visibility

Fog conditions were observed at multiple locations, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and Deoghar.

The lowest visibility of just 50 metres was recorded at Meteorological Centre Ranchi, indicating dense fog conditions during the morning hours.

Automated Weather Station Data

Several districts saw a rise in day temperatures. Saraikela recorded a maximum of 26.5°C, Bokaro 25.4°C, and East Singhbhum’s Baharagora 25.4°C. Minimum temperatures across most districts ranged between 8°C and 13°C.

Cold Wave Status

The IMD clarified that no cold wave conditions were realised anywhere in the state.

Weather officials advised residents to remain cautious during early morning hours due to reduced visibility caused by fog, especially along highways and airport operations.
