Dhanbad, Dec. 25: The district administration on Monday morning conducted a sudden search of the Dhanbad jail and assessed the safety of prisoners and implementation of the jail manual.
The team comprising Deputy Commissioner (DC) Barun Ranjan, City Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajit Kumar, Additional Collector Vinod Kumar, SDM Uday Rajak and other senior officials carried out a search operation over four hours in all nooks and corners of the jail.
Third search after December 3
This was the third time search operation of the jail by the district administration after the December 3 shot-out incident in which Uttar Pradesh gangster Aman Singh was gunned down in the prisoners’ hospital ward. Two pistols were recovered inside the jail two days later.

After conducting the search operation, Deputy Commissioner Barun Ranjan said it was a routine inspection of the jail in which no incriminating item was found. The search was conducted in the godown, the kitchen, each inmate’s ward, the jail’s food supply system, and the implementation of jail manuals. The team assessed the safety arrangement of prisoners.
Prisoners satisfied
“Prisoners expressed satisfaction over food quality and quantity being provided to them,” said Barun Ranjan.
The deputy commissioner said that nine notorious prisoners have been transferred to different state jails, and the transfer of two others is under process. More prisoners would be shifted after getting permission from the court.
The DC said the jail manual violation allegation report has already been submitted to the IG (prison).
