Ranchi, May 25: Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra on Monday directed all districts to maintain strict vigilance and intensify social media monitoring ahead of Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) celebrations to ensure peace and law and order across the state.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Police Headquarters in Ranchi, the DGP instructed police officials to closely monitor sensitive areas, identify potential troublemakers, and take preventive action against anti-social elements. She also emphasised immediate verification and action against rumours or provocative content circulating on social media platforms.

The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including Additional Director General of Police (Operations) T. Kandasamy, Inspector General of Police (Special Branch) Prabhat Kumar, Bokaro Range IG Shailendra Kumar Sinha, DIG (Special Branch) Chauthe Manoj Ratan, and DIG Naushad Alam. Senior officers from all districts joined through video conferencing.

CCTV, Drone Surveillance and Riot Control Reviewed

During the meeting, officials reviewed security arrangements around religious places and sensitive locations, including installation of CCTV cameras, videography, drone surveillance, and deployment of forces and magistrates.

The preparedness of district control rooms, emergency response systems, anti-riot equipment, riot control vehicles, and water cannons was also assessed. Police officials were directed to strengthen monitoring in hotspot areas and ensure smooth coordination with local administration and other departments.

Focus on Communally Sensitive Districts

Special attention was given to districts with a history of communal incidents. The DGP instructed officials to remain on high alert and conduct special drives against miscreants to prevent any untoward incidents during the festival.

The review also covered pending communal cases, execution of warrants, control over provocative songs played through DJs and sound systems, and monitoring of banned cattle trafficking activities.

Traffic Management and Inter-State Check Posts Under Watch

The DGP further directed districts to ensure smooth traffic movement during the festival period and intensify checking at inter-state borders and check posts.

Police officials were asked to conduct regular peace committee meetings at district and police station levels to maintain communal harmony and public confidence ahead of Bakrid.
