Jamshedpur, May 9: In an initiative to revive age-old art forms and instill cultural pride among young minds, Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) hosted a ‘Know Your Heritage’ workshop for Class 8 students.

The event was held in collaboration with INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) and its sister initiative, Biponi, aiming to reintroduce students to the traditional craft of pottery.

Through this immersive, hands-on experience, students stepped back in time, exploring the roots of indigenous pottery techniques that have shaped Indian heritage for centuries. Guided by skilled artisans, the workshop covered various facets of pottery—ranging from clay sculpting to the rich stories embedded in age-old designs.

“This workshop is not just about making pots,” said the event coordinator, adding that “It’s about preserving history, understanding culture, and passing on valuable knowledge to future generations.”

In addition to pottery, students were also trained in painting cloth bags inspired by traditional themes—combining artistic creativity with cultural learning.

Paramita Roy Choudhury, Principal of NHES, expressed her pride in the initiative, saying, “Pottery is more than an art form—it’s a language of our ancestors, and this workshop is a chance to keep that language alive. It inspires our students to value their cultural roots and understand the deeper narratives of our heritage.”

The workshop left students not only with artistic skills but also with a renewed sense of identity and belonging—proving that when history is taught through hands-on creation, it leaves a lasting impression.
