Dhanbad, July 3: Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dhanbad, Virendra Kumar Tiwari, on Thursday officially launched the 90-Day National Mediation Program aimed at promoting dispute resolution through mediation.

The initiative has been rolled out by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on the directive of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

Speaking at the launch, Judge Tiwari emphasized that the primary goal of the campaign is to settle as many disputes as possible through amicable mediation. He also held a meeting with all judicial officers of the district, instructing them to identify and refer suitable cases for mediation without delay.

Broad Range of Cases to Be Covered Under Mediation

The judge highlighted that the campaign will address a wide variety of disputes including marital conflicts, domestic violence, accident claims, cheque bounce cases, consumer complaints, loan recovery, service matters, commercial disputes, compoundable criminal cases, partition and eviction matters, land acquisition, and other civil disputes eligible for mediation.

Sub-Judge and DLSA Secretary Mayank Tushar Topno explained that the campaign, titled “Mediation for the Nation,” is scheduled to run from July 1 to September 30, 2025.

In light of the increasing volume of litigation, the initiative will function seven days a week to offer greater convenience to the disputing parties.

Courts to Identify Suitable Cases Throughout July

From July 1 to July 31, courts will focus on identifying and listing eligible cases from their cause lists. Those deemed appropriate for settlement will be referred to mediation centers during this period. The DLSA will facilitate offline, online, and hybrid modes of mediation to ensure greater flexibility and accessibility.

Online mediation facilities will also be provided by the DLSA to accommodate parties who are unable to attend in person, making the process more inclusive and efficient.
