Jamshedpur, Sept 8: Jamshedpur police have made a breakthrough in the sensational Rs 30 lakh robbery in Bistupur, arresting three accused, including the mastermind behind the crime.
According to officials, the key conspirator, a youth from Sakchi, had conducted a recce of businessman Saket Agiwal for nearly four to five days before executing the plan.
On September 4, the gang, travelling in an Innova car and a scooter, waylaid Agiwal near Bistupur Gurudwara. They threw chilli powder into his eyes and fled with the cash.

The criminals later stayed at a location arranged by the mastermind. Acting on leads, police arrested a youth from Seraikela on Sunday, identified as a resident of Rajnagar.

Based on his inputs, a white Innova used in the crime was seized. During interrogation, he admitted to arranging shelter and logistics for the robbers.
So far, three men have been arrested, and they have confessed to their involvement. Police have also recovered a country-made pistol and live cartridges used in the crime.
In addition, two women have been detained for questioning. Police suspect they may have played a role in providing information, sheltering, or assisting the criminals. Their exact involvement is under investigation.
Senior police officials said the arrests send a strong message against rising crimes in society. They urged the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to help curb criminal networks.

The gang had used an Innova and a scooter to execute the heist, incapacitating the businessman with chilli powder before snatching the cash. The incident had sparked anger and fear among the victim’s family and local residents.
Police said efforts are on to nab the prime conspirator and expose the entire gang. Raids are continuing, and the case remains a top priority for the district police.
