SUBHASH MISHRA

Ranchi, May 14: The Ranchi chapter of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India (APSI) will launch an awareness campaign across Jharkhand, focusing on the availability of burn treatment facilities in the state. This decision was made during a meeting of the Plastic Surgeons at Jharkhand Charitable Hospital on Tuesday evening.

Dr. Ajoy Kumar Singh, patron of the APSI Ranchi chapter, highlighted that the campaign’s primary objective is to inform the public about the right doctors and treatment facilities for burn injuries and plastic surgery in the state.

He emphasized that advanced facilities, comparable to those in metropolitan cities, are now available in Jharkhand, covering everything from de-plantation to burn care, as well as static reconstructive surgery.

Plastic Surgeon Day and National Conference Planning

During the meeting, the Ranchi chapter of APSI also decided to celebrate Plastic Surgeon Day on July 15 in Dhanbad. Additionally, the chapter was authorized to select the venue for the National Conference of the National Academy of Burns India (NABI) in 2026.

While Srinagar had initially been chosen as the venue for the national conference, discussions have started at the national level regarding a reconsideration due to the recent Pahalgam incident (April 22).

Dr. Singh noted that venues for national conferences are typically decided a year in advance, mentioning that Ranchi had hosted the national conference in 2024 and Ayodhya in January 2025. The Ranchi chapter of NABI will abide by the central committee’s final decision on the 2026 venue.
