Daltonganj, December 18: Pigeons and professionals in making keep the Institute of Professional Studies humming with activities.
There are tenfold more pigeons than students here. The students come to classes in single digits, while pigeons come here in hordes.
The two, the pigeons and professionals, don’t come in each other’s way. They look unmindful of others.

First, the professional in making. Nine interactive panels are installed in the IPS (Institute of Professional Studies) building, with which the professionals in making are being taught in the Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) in Daltonganj.

The idea of having a variety of professional and vocational courses being run in 3 constituent colleges in Daltonganj, to start functioning under one roof of the IPS building, was of the VC Dr Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh, who got it done despite bland criticisms.
Sources said when the VC wanted all professional courses to be at one location, there were skepticism of it, but the VC stood his ground and brushed off the criticism.
On Thursday, the Jharkhand Story Network correspondent detoured the IPS building with the Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) Dr S K Pandey.
It was the VC who had asked the DSW Pandey to show this correspondent the interactive panels and studies going on.
Classes were on, but the attendance of the students was dismal. In the MBA class, there were just three students out of 30 plus. It was almost the same as other professional courses. Students’ attendance is very thin.
Talking to this correspondent VC said, “I believe attendance will pick up soon. I will be monitoring it. I ask the professionals to be sincere and regular about their classes.”
The Institute of Professional Studies is home to hundreds of pigeons! Pigeons have made this Institute their dwelling place.
Pigeons’ stool or droppings are quite a messy affair in this Institute. It not only creates dirt and filth, but it is a health hazard.

The VC admitted, “Pigeons are too many. The structure of this Institute is such that there is a kind of highway for the pigeons to make home here in this Institute.”
“We will be asking the construction agency to build something to stop pigeons coming over here for their night-long stay, leaving droppings every morning here on the tiled floor,” added the VC.
